Traditional web analytics determine visitor location using client-side HTML5 Geolocation APIs (which trigger intrusive browser permission dialogs) or third-party tracking scripts that slow down page loading.

  1. When a request hits a Pingbird file or link endpoint, our edge servers extract the two-letter ISO country code from secure network headers.
  2. We aggregate request counts by country bucket in our database.
